Maverick Skateparks was awarded first place in the commercial photo category of the Golden Trowel Awards, hosted by The Concrete Society, for its use of decorative concrete in the bespoke skatepark installation. The Hove Beach Plaza is a landmark scheme for Maverick, and part of the council’s multi-million regeneration of Hove Lagoon seafront. Delivered by main contractor Morgan Sindall, the new sprawling sports complex also includes a new pump track and a 600 metre-squared roller rink, with landscaping by Untitled Practice.
John Grant, Awards organiser and specification manager at PICS Ltd, said: “The 2024 Golden Trowel Awards are a fantastic example of how concrete can be used in colourful and imaginative ways, none less than the introduction of vibrant colours within the winning entry of the commercial category.”
